Hello from Princeton Record Exchange, Recently arrived: over 200 Classical Audiophile LPs! It feels like it has been ages since we have had a large quality classical audiophile collection come in, but we are pleased to announce a great one today. For those not in the know, these types of records were mainly produced in the late fifties through the mid-to-late sixties using all-tube recording equipment on high-quality virgin vinyl. They are sought after as much for their sonic qualities as for their performances. Some folks think these are the perfect media to showcase their premium stereo systems. This collection includes many RCA Shaded Dogs, Mercury SRs, and other miscellaneous audiophiles, but the real highlights are an incredible assortment of British imports. There are dozens of original Columbia SAXs, (blue/silver labels and slightly later red/black), early Deccas (many wide-bands, both edition 1s and edition 2s), and early EMIs (blue/gold labels); its a rare day that we see so many of these rare British pressings at one time. Because of the scarcity of these records, and because so many of our valued customers are looking for them, we do request that you do not call us to put items on hold. Alec R. Costandinos has placed his name high above the wall of disco greats and with projects like Romeo & Juliet from 1977 it is no wonder. Recorded in London using some of the most talented and remarkable musicians and technical engineers from the disco era. This creation disco-fied William Shakespeares tale of love and tragedy and made it a common know masterpiece among disco audiophiles. It is truly a wonderful piece of music that transcends dance floors. Taking Franco Zeffirellis 1968 Romeo & Juliet featuring Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting and match the drama is the only way I could pay homage to Costandinos for his genius. Paris Pipe Organ Tournemire Plays Tournemire (1)

Recorded at Ste. Clotilde in 1931. For historians, not audiophiles . Charles Tournemire improvised this piece on the Te Deum as one of 5 specifically created for the recording sessions. It was these recordings from which Maurice Duruflé made the famous transcriptions that we play today. An interesting side note: Tournemire ingeniously developed the music so that it would have a natural break at about the 3-minute mark (2:52 here, to be precise), because the old black discs would hold only about 3 1/2 minutes per side.
